5 Healthy Habits to Incorporate Into Your Life

1. Drink Lemon Water

I’ve said this before in a previous post about How to Be a Morning Person, but repetition is key! Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning (as well as periodically throughout the day) has amazing benefits for your health! Instead of reaching for coffee in the morning I boil some water, cut up some lemon and voila! – Lemon Water!

Benefits of drinking lemon water:

  • Improves digestion
  • Hydrate your body
  • Lose some weight – lemons have pectin in them, making you feel fuller longer!
  • Get Vitamin C
  • Feel energized without the coffee (no more caffeine crashes!)

2. Start Oil Pulling!

I’ll just briefly touch upon this because I have an in-depth blog post on oil pulling here. Oil pulling is taking any plant-based oil (such as coconut oil or vegetable oil) and swishing it around in your mouth for 20 minutes. I typically use organic coconut oil because it tastes better and coconut oil just seems to be the God of all oils.

Oil Pulling benefits:

  • Whitens teeth
  • Detox your body (by removing toxins)
    • reduce headaches
    • clears skin
  • Better oral health/hygiene
    • better breath
    • healthier gums
    • prevents cavities

3. Replace one meal a day with a smoothie

If you are looking to lose some weight this year, replacing one meal with a smoothie is a great way to do it! Now, typically I use my Vega All-In-One protein powder in all my smoothies so that I am receiving all the nutrients and vitamin my body needs, and packing it with greens, matcha, dairy-free milk (usually almond milk but I also suggest coconut or cashew milk). It tastes oh-so-yummy and you can also add fresh fruit and toppings (chia seeds, hemp seeds, coconut flakes) to make a beautiful and nutrient packed smoothie bowl meal!

  • packed full of nutrients (if you add a protein and nutrient supplement)

4.Start out your day with yoga + meditation

Ever since I started doing this I have felt more relaxed, focused and happy during the day. I also incorporate daily gratitudes and affirmations into my meditation practice to set a positive mood as well as fill the space around me with positivity. Practicing yoga also increases flexibility and starts to get your blood flowing to your brain and other vital parts of the body. It’s the perfect kickstart to your day.

5. Switch out regular salt for Himalayan salt

Salt is an essential mineral for the human body. However, regular table salt is extremely refined and is stripped of it’s benefits during refinement.
